Dear Parents,

Welcome to a new school year!

We are very excited to have your children joining us for a great year of learning and growing.  There are a few information items for you to review so you are aware of what is happening this first week of school.  Please take some time to read all information and attachments so everyone is starting the year off successfully.  

If there have been changes over the summer and you are NOT attending Le Roi Daniels in September, please email leroidaniels@cbe.ab.ca right away and let us know what school your child is going to.

1) Please join us for our ice cream social on August 30^th between 11:30 – 12:30.  This is event is happening rain or shine.  Please come to meet your child’s teacher, collect the welcome back package of forms and show your children where they are going to meet their teacher on August 31^st  for the first day of school. Please note this is a fun, casual event – uniforms NOT required J

2) USED UNIFORM SALE – there will be limited items for sale (CASH ONLY) during the ice cream social.  This is a great opportunity to pick up some extra uniform items, especially if you have items on backorder.  This will be taking place in the gym with access from outside.

3) You should receive a letter from your child’s teacher on Tuesday August 29^th. If you do not get this letter, please contact the office to ensure we have the correct email on file.

4) Please remember that ALL students should be in their formal uniform on Thursday August 31^st  for the first day of school.  All uniform details can be found in the attached parent handbook as well as the attached picture guide.

5) Please be sure to send and label water bottles for your children as the fountains can be used as a filling station and not only for drinking from.

6) There will be a September Newsletter and Calendar coming later next week, please make note of the September calendar for some exciting events that are happening already in the school.   

7) You will be receiving a package from your child’s teacher at the ice cream social.  There are MANY documents to read, sign and return to the school by TUESDAY SEPTEMER 5^th.   Please see below for details regarding each document.    

• Google Meet Information (pink) – please KEEP this document at home and use the information for our parent meeting on September 7^th at 6:00pm.  Please DO NOT login to this account prior to the 7^th.
• Field Trips within walking distance (white) – information item for you to keep at home
• Le Roi Daniels School Admirable Use Policy (coral) – please complete, sign and return this form in order for your child to use technology(I-pads, computers, chromebooks) at school.
• Parent/Student Le Roi Daniels School Contract (light blue) - please read the attached document and then initial each section (Grade 2 & 3 students should also initial so they are aware of the expectations) and return to school       Parent Handbook 2023-24.docx 
• Student Health Plan (yellow) – MUST BE COMPLETED, SIGNED on the back AND RETURNED BY ALL STUDENTS.  If there are no health concerns, please enter N/A into the boxes, add student name, sign and return the forms  (2 pages).
• Student Health Emergency Response (dark pink) – complete, sign and return if there medical concerns ONLY, otherwise dispose of this sheet.
• Consent to Email Student Personal Information (green) – please complete, sign and return this form in order for the school to email personal information (report cards, IPPs, consent forms) to you in the event that you are unable to get them in person from the school.
• Annual Volunteer Registration Form (golden) – please complete, sign and return this form in order to volunteer for any upcoming events in the school, including field trips. Please note, you would also need to have a valid police clearance (contact the office for more information if you are unsure if you have completed this)
• Welcome to Le Roi Daniels (light purple) – ONLY FOR NEW TO LRD FAMILIES, not in all packages.  Please complete and return for teacher use.

** There are also some digital forms for you to verify, complete and digitally sign on your PowerSchool account through School Engage.  Please be sure to complete these forms by September 5th as well **

• Demographic Verification Form – please ensure there are at least 2 phone numbers and at least 1 emergency contact that is not a parent
• Citizenship Information Update Form
• Annual Authorization form

We know this is lots of information for you to read, complete and return but we are hoping that you will be able to have all items returned to the school by Tuesday so we are able to complete our school opening procedures and ensure we have the most accurate information.  Thank you for your help with this!

8) Attendance and punctuality are essential in setting up your children for long-term success and planning.  Please ensure you arrive at school BEFORE 7:55 so instruction can begin at 8:00!   Doors are open at 7:45 and students are encouraged to make their way to the classroom and begin learning right away as even 5 minutes late can disrupt both their learning and those around them. 

9) Safety is always the priority and therefore we are asking you please follow the attached flow of traffic for driving and parking safely around the school.  Reminder there is NO DROP OFF or PICK UP in either school parking lots or along the school perimeter.     Parking recommendations.JPG
