Dear Parents,

Well another successful week of school is completed!  There is lots already happening n the classroom and more fun to come this next week.  Please read below for important updates😊

  1. We are still missing some of the welcome back forms as well as the completed online forms! Please ensure all components are completed and returned by Monday as they were due Sept 5.   When forms are not completed or returned, it means we are not in compliance with Alberta Education expectations and requirements.  Please help us complete all these important pieces.
  2. Fun Lunch is on Thursday September 25.  If you are interested in having your child receive a hot fun lunch on this date, please ensure you have created your Healthy Hunger Account and placed your order before midnight on Saturday, Sept 20.   Please note the M/W Kindergarten students should NOT order this fun lunch as it is not their school day.  If your child is absence on the day of fun lunch and you have ordered, you must contact the office before 10am to confirm if you are coming to pick up the lunch, otherwise it will be donated.    As Fun Lunch days are very busy, we are also asking that if your child is not participating in fun lunch, you please send a regular lunch as we are unable to accommodate outside agency drop offs of lunch (Skip, Door Dash, Uber Eats etc).
  3. Healthy Choices – we are noticing that some students are bringing pop to school (or having it delivered with their Skip orders at times), please note that pop is not recommended at school for elementary students as there is no nutritional value and often causes over excitement.  Please do not send pop/soda to school!
  4. School Council date change for October.  The meeting will be held online on Oct 14 instead of 21 due to the CASINO on Oct 22 & 23.
  5. We are still in desperate need of volunteers for our CASINO event.  This is a very important fundraising event and we need over 50 more volunteers for this event to take place.  Please click the link to sign up for your time slot to help with this event.  NO EXPERIENCE necessary, no police check required and anyone over 18 can volunteer.  Talk to Grandmas, Grandpas, Aunts and Uncles to help out!  Reminder that if you complete your scheduled shift, you get priority seating at our school performance for both the 2025/26   AND  2026/27 school years!
  6. Reminder that there is no School on September 29 or 30.  https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C084FA5A72FABF5CE9-57857911-casino?useFullSite=true#/
  7. Bussing and Parking – we have had some parents and community members reach out to us sharing significant concerns regarding bus drop off and pick up in community areas.  As a school we are currently working on RESPECT and as part of that, we remind students that we are always representing our school, community and families everywhere we go so we want to be respectful to those around us.  As parents, we also want to make sure we are modelling that for our children.  Therefore, I am asking you to please be respectful (and SAFE) when dropping off and picking up your children, both at the school and in your community bus stops.  Please ensure you are NEVER J-walking, you park safely and walk to the stop, not stopping in the middle of the road or blocking the bus zone area, using kind language to those around you, arriving EARLY to drop off and pick up so safety can be a priority. We want all families and students to be safe coming and going from school and we are asking for your help to ensure road safety and expectations are a priority over convenience.
  8. Bus Misconducts - we have already had a few bus misconducts sent home for some students and we are receiving complaints from some of our drivers about students not making safe choices on the bus.  Please remind your children that they need to sit in their assigned seats (always), stay seated, face forward and use very quiet voices to visit with their neighbors on the bus.  Students who are not following the bus expectations, will receive misconducts and may be removed from the bus for a period of time so please remind your children of the expectations each day.

We hope you all have a wonderful weekend and enjoy the sun!

Sincerely,

Andrea Taylor – Principal @ Le Roi Daniels
