Dear Parents,

We had a great week and enjoyed our last day in support of Terry Fox and all he represented.  Thank you all for your generous donations.  We will share the final amount raised in our October newsletter.  Please take a look at the information below as there are some very exciting events happening in the next couple of weeks!

  1. PHOTO DAY is on Monday (Tuesday for our T/Th Kindergarten students). Please ensure your children are in their FORMAL uniforms with all components for this important day. They must have their long sleeved Green Cardigan, TLC tie if wearing pants, white dress shirt and solid navy socks/tights. Reminder that if your children are wearing anything in their hair or wear a headdress, they must always match the colors of the uniform.
  2. If you want your child to participate in the Fun Lunch this month, please be sure to place your order on your Healthy Hunger Account BEFORE midnight on Saturday Sept 21. Late orders will not be accepted and we unfortunately cannot accept SKIP or DOORDASH.  Only the T/Th Kindergarten students should order this fun lunch. If you have ordered fun lunch and your child is away that day, it will be donated unless you call the school before 10am to make other arrangements for it to be picked up that afternoon.
  3. Welcome back package forms – thank you to everyone who has completed all forms. If you still have forms at home, please complete them and return them on Monday. There are only a few families who still need to complete their demographics form online and you would have received an email from Mrs. Taylor earlier this week. Please be sure to complete that form online by Monday and we could be the first school in all of CBE who have it all completed – LETS GO LRD!!! :)
  4. School Council is on Tuesday Sept 17 @ 6:30pm and will be held in the Learning Commons at the school. There will be snacks provided for this meeting as well as onsite babysitting for those who need it. This is a great opportunity to meet other families, find out about what is happening at the school and provide your suggestions to make LRD even better. Hope to see you there.
  5. School Fees – please be sure to go onto your MyCBE account and pay for all of your school-based fees before the end of September as we have already secured and purchased many of the upcoming fieldtrips.
  6. Speaking of fieldtrips – we need volunteers!  We have many trips and activities coming up in the next few weeks and we will be looking for parent volunteers. If you have not already completed your CPS Police Clearance and you are interested in volunteering, please send a photocopy of your driver’s license to leroidaniels@cbe.ab.ca.  We will then provide you a letter and instructions on how to gain your security clearance.  This does take a few weeks so please don’t wait to begin this process! :)
  7. Bus Expectations – I am sad to report that we are getting emails and phone calls from your community members sharing that many of our parents are blocking driveways, parking illegally in the middle of crosswalks, letting students out in the middle of the road and blocking bus parking areas. Please remember that you are always teaching your children and those around. We want to make sure we are being role models and representatives of Le Roi Daniels and the TLC program. Please be mindful and courteous of your community members, park AWAY from the bus-loading zone and walk safely to the bus stop, please don’t block driveways or alleyways even for a short period of time. Remember the Golden Rule – treat others the way you want to be treated….
  8. As a continuation for bus expectations… please remind your children that they need to make good choices on the bus and follow the SAFE rules:

S – Stay seated

A – Act responsibility and respectfully

F – Face Forward

E – Ears always listening to the driver

We have already had many bus misconducts coming into the school with children standing, yelling and crawling on the floor. Your child may receive 1 bus misconduct as a reminder to follow expectations and if they receive a 2nd one, they will be removed from the bus for a period of time. Please remind them to follow these expectations at all times on the bus.

  1. As the weather has begun to shift, please ensure that your child has their inside shoes (black and runners) that stay at school here for Monday. We don’t want children tracking water and mud through the school and it is unsafe for them to wear only socks. Thank you so much.
  2. Finally, all password glitches should now be fixed. Please be sure to log into your child's account this weekend so you can see their homework and upload it for next week.  Please be sure to accept the invite to your child's Google Classroom. If you still experience difficulty, please ensure you have logged everyone out of Google, restart your computer and try again. If that does not work, please email your child's teacher this weekend and they will fix it on Monday.

Thank you so much for reading these emails as I know they can be long but they do provide you lots of information to keep you in the loop!

Sincerely,

Andrea Taylor  - Principal @ Le Roi Daniels School
