School Update 

To the students and families of LRD, 

This past week, students at Le Roi Daniels have been learning about Terry Fox and his inspiring message about making a difference through perseverance, determination, and setting goals. As we continue our current Character Education focus on Respect, students and staff had an opportunity to put this learning into action and honour Terry’s dream by participating in our schoolwide Terry Fox Run on Thursday. It was wonderful to see our school community come together in support of such an important cause. A special thank you to our Parent Society for providing students with a snack and water following the run!

Upcoming Important Dates 

inform | Lockdown Practice  

In partnership with the Calgary Police Service (CPS), students and staff at Le Roi Daniels participated on Thursday in the first of two internal practice lockdown drills. The purpose of this drill was to help students and staff understand and practice the procedures they would follow in the event of an emergency. Throughout the drill, we followed the procedures outlined in Le Roi Daniels’ Emergency Procedure Manual, with a focus on making the experience a positive and supportive learning opportunity for students. We are pleased to share that, based on feedback from CPS, our students and staff did an excellent job during the practice, and our school’s response aligned with the established guidelines of both CBE and CPS. 

LRD School Council and Parent Society 

Our first Parent Council meeting of the school year will be held online on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. Please watch for an email from the school on Monday, September 21, with the meeting link on behalf of Parent Council. 

We encourage all parents and guardians to attend these meetings, as parent participation is key to the success of our Parent Society. It’s a wonderful opportunity to connect with other parents, stay informed, and learn about the activities and events happening throughout the school. 

We’re excited to let families know that Fun Lunches will begin in October! The intent of the dates shared below was to ensure both Kindergarten programs were included and that they lined up as much as possible with our families that have students at Fairview School.

request | End of Day Pick Up Changes 

To help us ensure a safe and organized dismissal for all students, we ask families to please notify the school office of any changes to their child’s end-of-day transportation or pick-up plans no later than 30 minutes before dismissal. Requests can be shared with the office by phone/voicemail (403-777-6420) or email. Providing advance notice allows our office team to communicate changes to staff before students begin transitioning to buses and dismissal areas. Last-minute changes or arriving at the school without prior notice can make dismissal challenging and increase the possibility of a mix-up. Thank you for helping us keep dismissal safe, smooth, and organized for everyone. 

invite | National Day for TRC & Orange Shirt Day  

All CBE staff, students, families, friends, and neighbors are invited to continue learning and show support at the 5th annual National Day for Truth and Reconciliation & Orange Shirt Day event taking place at the Confluence Historic Site on Wednesday, Sept. 30 from 9-10:30 a.m. This important community gathering is a collaboration between the City of Calgary, CBE, Calgary Catholic School District, Calgary Police Service, Calgary Fire Department, and The Confluence. A CBE group photo will be taken at the CBE Smudge Tipi at the end of the event. Meet us there! 🧡

Google Classroom | Homework 

A “Welcome to Google Classroom” information sheet was sent home last week with students. This sheet provided information about how to join your child’s Google Classroom, how to access Google Classroom on a mobile device, and an explanation of TLC Homework. Student passwords have been reset, and a label with your child’s EDU account and password was shared on the form. Your child’s EDU account can also be found through your MyCBE Account by clicking “Grades & Attendance.” The email address associated with your child’s EDU account is in the top right corner of the page. 

We continue to encourage families to log into Google Classroom to ensure you have access to your child’s classroom.

Kindergarten | Annual Eye Exam Information 

Eye See…Eye Learn™ is a program that provides kindergarten-aged children in Alberta with an eye exam from an optometrist. If required, kindergarten children also receive a free pair of eyeglasses.
