Dear Parents,

Well, we have made it to the last week of October and for the most part, we have had amazing weather! That being said, we know that cold and snowy weather is right around the corner. Please remember to send your children dressed for the weather and please make sure all items are clearly labeled as students will be going outside during the winter unless it is colder than -20!

This is a very exciting and busy week, so please be sure to read the messages below :)

  1. Thank you to all those families who were able to attend our parent conferences.  It was wonderful to meet with you and share all the amazing things that your children are doing here at school.
  2. Grade 2 Assembly hosted by Rooms 14, 15 & 16 will be on Monday, October 28 @ 1:30 pm.  Parents are invited to attend and are encouraged to be here for 1:20 to ensure you don’t miss any of the performance.
  3. Halloween is on Thursday!   Please see the bullets below for the details of the day.

·        ALL Kindergarten students are invited on this day to participate in the Halloween festivities and should come for the full day.

·        Students are invited to wear their Halloween costume to school in the morning (they will not be allowed to change at school)

·        Please see your child’s Google Classroom page for details regarding class activities for Halloween day.

·        Halloween Parade will begin at 11am.  Parents are welcome to attend and watch if interested (please be here by 10:45).

·        In preparation for our performance in January, all students will be watching the 101 Dalmatians Animation in the afternoon.

  1. NO NUTS : as children will be collecting candy and treats from Halloween, we would like to remind you to please ensure your child does not bring any treats that contain nuts or nut products to school.  We would also like to remind you, that students should only be bringing 1 treat/day as they provide no nutritional value to help your child learn.  Thank you for helping us keep learning as a priority.
  2. DIWALI FORMAL DRESS DAY – Students who formally celebrate Diwali as part of their cultural and religious beliefs are invited to wear their formal Diwali clothing on Friday, November 1 for a photo in the yearbook.   This is NOT a casual day and therefore jeans would not be acceptable.  Students who do not formally celebrate Diwali, should still be wearing their uniforms.
  3. Thank you to everyone who has generously made donations to the School Council Cheque Writing Campaign.  Please remember the campaign ends on Thursday, Oct 31.  The class who has raised the most money will receive a special pizza party snack the first week of November.
  4. FAMILY MOVIE NIGHT is Thursday November 7

·        Please check your child’s backpack on Monday for a special flyer with all the details

·        Tickets and snacks MUST be purchased on Healthy Hunger in advance and there are limited tickets available.  Ticket sales open on Tuesday, Oct 29 @ 8am
