School Update
To the students and families of LRD,
Today was filled with Halloween excitement at Le Roi Daniels School! It was wonderful to see so many creative costumes and smiling faces throughout the building. We would like to extend a sincere thank you to the many parents and family members who joined us for our school-wide Halloween parade. We truly appreciate the incredible turnout and the opportunity to share these special moments with our school community.
Following the parade, students continued to participate in classroom learning activities while enjoying some Halloween fun throughout the day. For all families participating in Halloween festivities this weekend, we wish you a safe, enjoyable, and fun-filled Halloween!
As an additional resource, we encourage families to review the City of Calgary's Halloween Safety Tip Sheet for helpful reminders to keep everyone safe.
Wishing everyone a wonderful weekend.

Digital Citizenship
Digital citizenship is having the knowledge, skills, and attitudes needed to demonstrate responsible and respectful behavior when using technology or participating in digital environments. A digital citizen models these competencies: respectful, informed, involved, balanced, safe, and responsible.
All CBE schools create and update digital citizenship plans yearly. We encourage families when they have a moment to review our LRD Digital Citizenship Plan for 2026-2027 which can be found below:
LRD Digital Citizenship Plan | 2026-2027
Provincial Screener Results | Students in Grades 1-3
Parents and guardians, please note that this week, teachers sent home copies of your child's results from the mandated literacy & numeracy screeners completed by classroom teachers this fall. The Calgary Board of Education shared information with parents through email on Monday, October 26th. Kindergarten students will be assessed in January 2027.
LRD School Council & Parent Society
Thank you to everyone who attended our Parent Council meeting this past Tuesday! We truly appreciate your time, participation, and support.
Mark your calendars! Our next council meeting will be held on Tuesday, November 17, 2026 at 6:00PM online. We look forward to seeing you there!
Cultural Celebrations
At Le Roi Daniels School, we believe it is important to take time to acknowledge, recognize, and celebrate the diverse cultures, traditions, and backgrounds that make up our school community.
We would also like to acknowledge Durga Puja (Hindu Festival – October 17–21) and Dussehra (Hindu Festival – October 20).
Diwali, also known as the Festival of Lights, will be celebrated on November 8. In recognition of this special occasion, students are welcome to wear traditional or cultural clothing to school on Friday, November 6. We look forward to acknowledging and celebrating the rich cultural diversity of our school community!
These celebrations provide meaningful opportunities to learn about and appreciate the traditions and cultures of others. Throughout the school year, we will continue to acknowledge and recognize cultural celebrations as part of our commitment to fostering a welcoming, respectful, and inclusive school community.
Child & Youth Well-Being Family & Caregiver Series
The CBE invites all parents and guardians to join us for a live online series focused on supporting child and youth well-being. Hosted by the Recovery Alberta Community Education Service (CES) Program in collaboration with experts from the Calgary community, this year's sessions will explore a range of timely topics.
These sessions are free and provide information, resources, helplines, and services to support healthy child and youth development.
