School Update

To the students and families of LRD,

This past Wednesday, we were excited to welcome Quest Theatre to Le Roi Daniels School for a special performance of The General. Based on a true story, the play follows Frank Groff, a dedicated volunteer crossing guard who spent many years helping children safely cross the street in his small Ontario community. Through this heartwarming story, students were introduced to important themes of kindness, friendship, community, and standing up for what you believe in. The performance served as a wonderful reminder that everyone has the ability to make a positive difference in their community, regardless of their age. These messages also connect beautifully with our ongoing character focus on Respect.

We would like to extend a sincere thank you to Quest Theatre for bringing this meaningful performance to our school and to our School Council for their support in making this opportunity possible for our students.

Wishing everyone a wonderful weekend.

Digital Citizenship

Digital citizenship is having the knowledge, skills, and attitudes needed to demonstrate responsible and respectful behavior when using technology or participating in digital environments. A digital citizen models these competencies: respectful, informed, involved, balanced, safe, and responsible.

All CBE schools create and update digital citizenship plans yearly. We encourage families when they have a moment to review our LRD Digital Citizenship Plan for 2026-2027 which can be found below:

LRD Digital Citizenship Plan | 2026-2027

Photo Retakes

Photo retakes will take place on Monday, October 26th, and Tuesday, October 27th, beginning at 8:30 a.m. each morning.

If your child requires a photo retake, we kindly ask that you email your child's classroom teacher in advance so we can ensure they are included.

Halloween Update | Oct 30

On Friday, October 30, students are invited to wear their Halloween costumes to school! As regular classroom learning continues throughout the day, we encourage students to choose costumes that allow them to participate safely and comfortably in all activities. We ask that students avoid wearing costume masks or bringing props such as toy knives, bats, or guns. Additionally, please avoid costumes that are overly scary, gory, or violent to help ensure a safe and welcoming environment for all students. For additional information, families are encouraged to review the City of Calgary Halloween Safety Tip Sheet.

Our school-wide costume contest will include awards for the best costume in Kindergarten (M/W and T/Th), Grade 1, Grade 2, and Grade 3, along with special categories for the most original, funniest, and scariest costumes.

Parents are welcome to join us for our Halloween Parade on Friday, October 30, at 9:00 a.m. Parents will gather in the gym, where students will parade through to showcase their costumes.

Monday/Wednesday Kindergarten Reminder: As our Monday/Wednesday Kindergarten students do not attend school on Friday, they are invited to wear their costumes on Wednesday, October 28. Administration will visit these classrooms to ensure students can still participate in the costume contest.

LRD School Council & Parent Society

Thank you to everyone who attended our Parent Council meeting this past Tuesday! We truly appreciate your time, participation, and support.

Mark your calendars! Our next council meeting will be held on Tuesday, November 17, 2026 at 6:00PM online. We look forward to seeing you there!

Cultural Celebrations

At Le Roi Daniels School, we believe it is important to take time to acknowledge, recognize, and celebrate the diverse cultures, traditions, and backgrounds that make up our school community.

We would also like to acknowledge Durga Puja (Hindu Festival – October 17–21) and Dussehra (Hindu Festival – October 20).

Diwali, also known as the Festival of Lights, will be celebrated on November 8. In recognition of this special occasion, students are welcome to wear traditional or cultural clothing to school on Friday, November 6. We look forward to acknowledging and celebrating the rich cultural diversity of our school community!

These celebrations provide meaningful opportunities to learn about and appreciate the traditions and cultures of others. Throughout the school year, we will continue to acknowledge and recognize cultural celebrations as part of our commitment to fostering a welcoming, respectful, and inclusive school community.

Child & Youth Well-Being Family & Caregiver Series

The CBE invites all parents and guardians to join us for a live online series focused on supporting child and youth well-being. Hosted by the Recovery Alberta Community Education Service (CES) Program in collaboration with experts from the Calgary community, this year's sessions will explore a range of timely topics.

These sessions are free and provide information, resources, helplines, and services to support healthy child and youth development.
