School Update

To the students and families of LRD,

A friendly reminder that Monday, October 19, is a Professional Development (PD) Day, and there will be no school for students.

We would also like to extend a sincere thank you to our School Council for supporting an upcoming Quest Theatre performance on Wednesday, October 21. Our students will have the opportunity to enjoy this special performance in the morning, and we are grateful to School Council for helping bring these enriching experiences to our school.

Finally, we are planning to complete our second fire drill for the school year next week, weather permitting. Schools are required to complete six fire drills throughout the school year, with three taking place before Winter Break. Our goal is to complete our third drill by mid-November, allowing us to take advantage of favorable weather conditions whenever possible. These drills are an important part of ensuring our students and staff are familiar with emergency procedures and can respond safely and confidently.

Thank you, as always, for your continued partnership and support of our Le Roi Daniels School community.

We hope everyone enjoys a wonderful weekend!

Child & Youth Well-Being Family & Caregiver Series

The CBE invites all parents and guardians to join us for a live online series focused on supporting child and youth well-being. Hosted by the Recovery Alberta Community Education Service (CES) Program in collaboration with experts from the Calgary community, this year's sessions will explore a range of timely topics.

These sessions are free and provide information, resources, helplines, and services to support healthy child and youth development.

Cultural Celebrations

At Le Roi Daniels School, we believe it is important to take time to acknowledge, recognize, and celebrate the diverse cultures, traditions, and backgrounds that make up our school community.

Looking ahead, we would also like to acknowledge Durga Puja (Hindu Festival – October 17–21) and Dussehra (Hindu Festival – October 20).

Diwali, also known as the Festival of Lights, will be celebrated on November 8. In recognition of this special occasion, students are welcome to wear traditional or cultural clothing to school on Friday, November 6. We look forward to acknowledging and celebrating the rich cultural diversity of our school community!

These celebrations provide meaningful opportunities to learn about and appreciate the traditions and cultures of others. Throughout the school year, we will continue to acknowledge and recognize cultural celebrations as part of our commitment to fostering a welcoming, respectful, and inclusive school community.

Student Illness

We have noticed an increase in the number of students who have been home sick recently. We kindly ask families to keep children home when they are feeling unwell as this helps reduce the spread of illness and supports a healthy school environment for everyone. Thank you for your continued support in keeping our school community healthy!

Pedestrian Safety Reminder

As a reminder, we ask all families to help us reinforce safe pedestrian practices when travelling to and from school. Please avoid jaywalking and encourage students to use the designated crosswalks where a crossing guard is present. Taking a few extra moments to cross safely helps keep our students and families safe and sets a positive example for all members of our school community. Thank you for your continued support in keeping safety a priority around our school.
