Weekly Update November 6 - 10

Dear Parents,

Well it has been an exciting week with all the students enjoying Halloween and snacking on their “special treats”.   As the next few weeks are busy, please be sure to read the updates and messages below.

1) We continue to encourage our students to have healthy snacks and lunches (even though Halloween just occurred).  If you are choosing to send sweet treats with your child, please only send 1 and remind them they need to eat the nutritious part of their lunch first.  We want to make sure their minds are ready for learning each day.

2) If you are able to come and support the CASINO fundraiser on November 13 & 14 by volunteering, please click on the link below to pick your date, time and job.   There is no experience required to help with this event.

3) Remembrance Day Assembly: November is a time to remember: remember those that believed in the greatness of our country and fought for us, died for us and ultimately allowed us to have life, successful futures, and freedom.  We will be honoring those who gave their lives for our freedom in a special Remembrance Day Assembly on November 8, 2023 @ 10:30am  and hope that our students reflect on what these men and women of great character stood for and the attributes and traits that can help us all.  The Grade 1’s in rooms 10, 13 & 20 are hosting this special day and ALL students are required to be in FORMAL UNIFORM for this assembly even though it is a Wednesday.   If your child is a member of Brownies, Guides, Scouts or Cadets, they are invited to wear their uniforms on this day.  We are also inviting parents to attend this Remembrance Day assembly.  Please arrive to the school by 10:15am as the doors will be closed and locked at 10:30 as all staff participate in this important assembly and we will be unable to answer the door or phone during this time.

4) FALL BREAK – Students will have the opportunity to enjoy a short break between Nov. 9-14.  We look forward to seeing them back on Nov. 15

5) We would like to thank all of those families who have generously donated to the School Council Chequing Campaign.  We were able to raise over $5000!!!  As promised – the class who raised the most money was….RM 13 – they raised $400!  Mrs. Archer’s class will receive a special treat on Monday November 6 for their prize.  Thank you so much for your generosity.

6) Drum Roll Please……we are very excited to announce our Spring Concert.   We will be performing Disney’s- The Lion King!!!  We are looking forward to this amazing show and will be sending home more information about auditions, parts and costumes before Christmas and in the New Year.  Please be sure to mark your calendars for April 18th to join us for this performance.
