Weekly Update November 15 - 17
Dear Parents,
Thank you so much to all of you who were able to come and participate in our Remembrance Day Assembly on Wednesday. We hope you and your family can take some time during the break to stop, think, remember and be thankful to all those who have given their lives for us to have freedom in Canada. We are truly a blessed country where we can have the freedom to learn and understand about different cultures, practice different religions and choose our own future path for learning, working and life experiences. I hope this is something we never forget or take for granted.
There are a couple of reminders for you so please take a moment to read the message below:
1) I would like to say a personal THANK YOU to all those who have graciously offered to volunteer for our Casino Fundraiser on November 13 and 14. This event is extremely important to the school for student activities and resources. I truly appreciate your commitment to helping the school during our break and want to remind everyone who is attending their shift that you will also receive preferential seating at our “Lion King” production in April.
2) We know that Halloween has provided lots of fun treats for your children. We would like to remind you that gum should never come to school. We have had multiple students with gum this week and we are asking you as parents to monitor what is coming with your child and please keep the gum at home. Thank you
3) Mark your calendars….we have our annual family movie night on Dec 7. Families will get the opportunity to watch “Elementals”. Please watch for the flyer to come home next week with all of the details on how to purchase your tickets and snacks on Healthy Hunger. See you at the movies!
4) Diwali – As the celebration of Diwali has landed during our Fall Break, we are inviting students who formally celebrate Diwali as part of the cultural and religious beliefs to wear their fancy formal celebratory clothing on Wednesday Nov. 15. This is the first day back after the break so please mark your calendar and don’t forget. This is NOT A CASUAL DAY and therefore students should not be coming in jeans but rather in their formal attire. Students who do not celebrate this holiday should be wearing their uniform.
