Weekly Update Nov. 27 - Dec. 1
|
Dear Parents, As we are winding up the end of November and starting December next week, please be sure to watch the weekly updates for many exciting events and activities happening in the school. We be sending the Newsletter and Calendar next Friday to share all of the important dates for your reference. We will also be sending a special email on Monday to share “How LRD is showing Generosity” during the month of December. 1. Please be sure to check your child’s account this weekend to see new and updated marks in all subject areas to see how they are doing in school. This is a great way to know how your child is doing, support them in areas they may be struggling in and praise them for all their great work.
2. Family Movie Night is coming! Please be sure to order your tickets, snacks and refreshments online through Healthy Hunger before Dec 2. All participants (including students) need to have a purchased ticket. There is no outside food or snacks allowed so please purchase your snacks online if you are wanting refreshments during the movie. Unfortunately we will not be able to accommodate late orders or ticket sales at the door, all purchases must be done through Healthy Hunger before the deadline. As this is a family event, we would also like to remind you that anyone who arrives under the influence of any kind (alcohol or marijuana) will not be permitted and once the doors are closed, individuals who leave the building will not be permitted back in. All of these provisions are created to keep everyone safe during this event. Friendly reminder – there are no chairs for this event, please bring your blankets or sleeping bags to be comfy on the floor. If you decide to bring your own folding chair, please remember to be courteous and have chairs along the back of the gym or along the side so you are not blocking families on the floor. J We are also looking for volunteers to help with this event. If you are able to come early to help (5:45pm), please sign up using the following link. This is a great way to decide where you want to sit early and help our school council team. https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C084FA5A72FABF5CE9-46329242-movie
3. Bussing updates: a. We know that there are some delays with bussing and we apologize from the school side of things, however the school does not directly work with transportation in creating timetables, schedules or delays. If you have concerns or questions, please contact CBETransportation as the school is unfortunately not able to help with these concerns. b. As part of the attendance process for CBE and Alberta Education, if a student is late (even if the bus is delayed) they legally must be marked as late. Although you are unable to control the bus timing, that is the code that will show on the attendance record you see online. Please be rest assured that on the backside of it, the school, CBE and Transportation know the late arrival is due to bus concerns. Tracking this information also provides information for transportation in hopes that late arrivals decrease. c. Behavior on the bus: we have had a higher than normal number of complaints about bus behavior on multiple buses. Please remind your children that they need to be SAFE on the bus. This includes: S- Stay seated at ALL times A – Always act responsibly (including sitting quietly) F – Face Forward E – Ears open to listen to driver instructions and expectations
d. If your children are bored on the bus, please send a book for them to read so they can remain occupied while not disturbing others or distracting the driver with loud conversations, changing seats, throwing personal items (hats, gloves etc) around the bus. We want everyone to be safe, especially as the snow and icy conditions begin.
4. Winter weather : please remember to send your child with winter outerwear. This includes snowpants, winter jacket, hat/toque, and mitts/gloves. Although the weather is getting colder, uniforms still need to be worn correctly. Fuzzy warm socks are great but they need to be navy! There have been lots of bright, fun colours being worn lately. We want to also remind you that leggings should not be worn (not even under dresses), please ensure your child has tights to cover their legs if they are not wearing pants. (Tights have the feet attached and are one piece) Thank you for following the uniform expectations while continuing to keep your little ones warm.
We hope you all have a wonderful weekend and look forward to seeing you on Monday! Sincerely, Andrea Taylor – Principal @ Le Roi Daniels |
