Dear Parents,

Well… we have had all 4 seasons this week!!  We are very much looking forward to permanent spring and summer weather as the students already have spring fever! J  It is supposed to be rainy for parts of next week so please be sure to send your children with appropriate footwear as the field can get quite muddy and wet.

A few updates for you as well as some important dates to mark in your calendar:

  1. School Council AGM is on Tuesday May 14 IN-PERSON at the school at 6pm.  Please refer to the May Newsletter sent last week for all the details.   Childcare will be provided at the school.
  2. Uniform expectations for May and June – we know it can get quite warm in the last 2 months of school so we would like to offer students the opportunity to wear NAVY DRESS SHORTS (not tight leggings or sweatpant material)  on the Mondays for their formal uniform instead of pants, which is normally required.  They will still need to wear the tartan tie and have their green long-sleeve cardigan (which usually goes in their backpack after uniform check).  This is only a suggested option and of course students are always welcome to wear the pants and dress as well.
  3. Toys and Trading cards at school – we are seeing a large increase in students bringing toys and trading cards to school, including smart watches with games on them.  We are reminding you that these items should not come to school as they cause distraction for those students as well as create an increase in loss or theft of those items – please keep all of them at home.   Thank you for supporting a focus on peer interaction and socialization for outdoor play at school by not sending these items.
  4. Grade 1 Assembly hosted by Rm 11,12 & 21 on May 29th at 1:30pm.  Students in the Gr. 1 choir will also be singing during this assembly.  Parents are welcome to attend this event.
  5. FUN LUNCH – is on Wednesday May 22 and is available to order on Healthy Hunger before midnight on May 17th.  Please note the T/Th Kindergarten students should NOT order this lunch as it is not their day.
  6. Wednesday May 8 – Hats on for Mental Health.  Students are welcome to wear a hat with their uniform on Wednesday as we acknowledge and learn about Mental Health.
  7. May 6 – Bus Driver Appreciation Day – please remind students to say thank you to their drivers who get them to and from school safely.
  8. May 7 – Teacher Appreciation day – please remind students to say thank you to their teachers for all the support, encouragement and guidance they provide each day

As always, we hope you have a wonderful weekend, enjoy some great family time and spend some time enjoying the outdoors.

Sincerely,

Andrea Taylor - Principal @ Le Roi Daniels
