Dear Parents,

We hope you are all able to enjoy some fun family time with your extra long weekend!

There are few updates for this week and some important planning pieces for you to be aware of for year-end as well as planning for the start of 2024-25.  Please be sure to mark your calendars for these important dates.

1)      Fun Lunch is on Wednesday May 22 from Swiss Chalet.  If you are wanting to have your child participate please order on Healthy Hunger BEFORE midnight today!  Reminder – if students are away on Fun Lunch day and you have ordered a meal, it will be donated unless you call the school to make alternate arrangements.   REMINDER – please DO NOT order skip or have other meals delivered to the school.  If you child is not participating in Fun Lunch, you should pack a regular lunch for them and it should be sent to school with them in the morning.

2)      Bus Registration is supposed to be open this week….Please be sure to register for the school bus through CBE Transportation.  You can find the registration information on the CBE website.  It is important that you register, even if you are already using the bus service this year (must be done each year for each student – it does NOT carry over) and even if you are unsure if you will be using this service in the Fall. You can always cancel in September, however to be added in the Fall, it could take up to 8 weeks for your child to get access to a bus.  All bus routes and stops are determined by the address from registered students so please ensure this is done ASAP.  Bussing registration closes by June 16 (but you never want to wait until the last minute so please complete this by June 1)!

3)      UNIFORMS – please see the attached information regarding uniform purchases …

·         McCarthy’s now has designated times to purchase uniform items – please check the dates in the attached document!!

·         McCarthy’s has a bundle sale happening until May 31 for uniform purchases (please be sure to order sizes big enough to account for summer growth) – please note the dresses and skirts for girls should be touching their knees.  The items not necessary for Le Roi Daniels are X-ed out on the information form.

·         Attached are the uniform expectations at LRD – please follow this guideline vs. any other information you may hear.  NO NAVY DRESSES, LEGGINGS or JOGGERS allowed!

·         Used uniform sale – there will be a used uniform sale on Monday June 24 from 2:15-3:00 at the school.  It is on a first come, first serve basis and will be CASH ONLY.  There will be a maximum of 10 items sold/family.

·         You will be able to donate your child’s gently used uniform items that they have outgrown to the school during June 18-21 – more information will come in the June Newsletter.

4)      Grade 1 Assembly is on May 29 @ 1:30pm  - hosted by Rooms 11,12 & 21.  Parents are welcome to attend and the Grade 1 Choir will also be singing during this performance.

5)      Mark your calendar - Grade 3 Farewell Assembly – the Grade 3 students will be hosting and be honored in a Farewell Assembly on Monday June 17th at 1pm.  This will be a FORMAL UNIFORM day and the last day for uniforms for the 2023-24 school year.

6)      Reminder – if you are not planning on attending Le Roi Daniels next year, please be sure to email the school ASAP so we can make appropriate class plans and designations.  If your Grade 3 student is not attending Fairview, please contact them to let them know -  403-777-7900.

7)      Teacher emails – you will be receiving an email from your child’s next year teacher on Tuesday August 27, introducing themselves and letting you know where you can find them for the ice cream social on Wednesday.  If you do not receive that email by Tuesday at noon, please call the school to find out your child’s teacher and determine why you did not get the email.

8)      Ice Cream Social – you are invited to come with your children to the school on Wednesday August 28 to meet your child’s teacher, connect with friends and have some ice cream between 11:30 -12:30.  This is a great way for your children to meet their teachers, find out where to meet them on the first day of school and relieve some of the first day jitters.  We look forward to seeing you all then and there will be additional information coming regarding this fun event mid-August.

9)      FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL – is Thursday August 29th.  Please be sure to have returned from all your summer fun BEFORE the first day of school.  It is important that all children are in attendance for the first day of school as it sets them up for success in following classroom routines, making friends, learning schedules and expectations, and showing commitment to education.  If you are missing the first day of school for any reason, it is important to contact the school office to let us know as students who are not in attendance may lose their spot at LRD as we have an extension waitlist of families who want to attend.

As the year is quickly coming to a close, we want to remind you to watch your emails for important updates to set your children up for success with the transition to their next grade.  We want to make sure they enjoy the last few weeks before summer break and don’t miss any of the fun events coming back in the Fall. J

Enjoy your long weekend!

Sincerely,

Andrea Taylor – Principal @ Le Roi Daniels
