Dear Parents,

I truly cannot believe how fast the month of May went and we are heading into JUNE!

Although we are heading into the final month of school, there are still many exciting events happening for all students so please be sure to read the messages below, including the June Newsletter and Calendar.

1)      Bowling – All students will be able to participate in bowling in the next few weeks.  Your child should have already brought home the permission form, please complete the Acknowledgement of Risk page and return it to the school by Wednesday June 5th.

2)      Grade 3 Farewell Assembly – June 17 @ 1pm.   This will be the last day of FORMAL UNIFORM for all students and we look forward to celebrating all of our Grade 3’s as they get ready to head to a new school next year.

3)      Eid al Adha – although we know some of our families celebrate this holiday, since the yearbook is now published and we are heading into the final weeks of school, there will not be a Formal Eid al Adha dress day.  We also know this celebration occurs from Sunday June 16 – Thursday June 20, which includes the Grade 3 Farewell time.  We hope that those families who celebrate this week- long holiday will still be able to send their Grade 3 children to school on June 17 for their assembly and farewell. Unfortunately, we will not be changing the Farewell celebration date.  Thank you for your understanding.

4)      BUS REGISTRATION – if you have not yet registered for bussing, please be sure to do so this weekend to ensure CBE Transportation has the most accurate information when creating bus routes and stops.  You need to register each year, even if your child is currently riding the bus.   Failure to register by the due date of June 16 (June 10 for Mrs. Taylor’s timeline J - last minute is never recommended!) may cause a 6-8 week delay in bus services for the start of school in the Fall.

5)      Used Uniform sale will be happening on Monday June 24 starting at 2:15- 3:00.  If you are able to volunteer to help with this sale, please contact School Council at lrdchair@gmail.com.   Families who wish to donate gently used (clean and washed) uniform items, can send them to the school starting on June 18.  We will be accepting: TLC crested green cardigan, TLC green vests, Tartan dresses, Tartan ties, TLC crested golf shirts.   We will not be accepting pants or white dress shirts at this time.  Thank you so much.

6)      Police Clearance – many families have provided their driver’s license to the office to begin the Police Clearance process. Please be sure to watch your emails to see if you have received your clearance from CPS, and if you have, please share a copy of your police letter with the school ASAP – even if this happens over the summer.  It must be shared ASAP with the school or the process will need to be started again.  Thank you for being proactive in getting your clearance completed.

7)      MARK YOUR CALENDARS – if you are anything like myself, you are already looking at family holidays for next year and when is the perfect time to go….we wanted to share the date of our school-wide concert with you now so you can mark your calendars and make sure you do not plan any holiday which may impact your child’s performance time.   Our concert is Thursday January 30 in the evening.  Students in Grade 2 & 3 who may want to try out for specific Cast/Speaking parts, rehearsals will begin Oct 1 and students must be present with no extended absences from Oct 1 – Jan 30.  We know this is early information but we wanted to make sure you were aware and can book holidays, events and celebrations outside this timeframe.  As for the play we are doing next year……it is still a secret!! J

8)      Finally – please take a moment to look at our June Calendar and Newsletter for other important information.

We hope everyone has a great weekend and fingers crossed we enter June with sunny & warm weather J

Sincerely,

Andrea Taylor – Principal @ Le Roi Daniels
