Dear Parents,

We are heading to a very fun-filled week so please be sure to read below so you don’t miss anything! There is LOTS to read so please read to the bottom so you don’t miss anything. :)

  1. Grade 3 Farewell Assembly is on Monday June 17.   ALL students need to be in their formal uniform.  Parents are invited to attend this special event, doors will be opened at 12:30 and all guests need to be at the school by 12:45.  The Assembly will begin at 1pm. Late arrivals will not be permitted to enter the gym until after all Grade 3’s have completed their processional so please do not be late!
  2. BOOK FAIR!   We are excited to be hosting a Scholastic Book Fair this week. This is a great opportunity to purchase some new reading material to enjoy over the summer while traveling for all your holidays.  Parents are welcome to come and shop at the book fair BEFORE the Grade 3 Assembly on Monday.  It will be open between 12:00 -12:45 for parents.  Students will have an opportunity to browse items, make a list of their favorites on Monday and Tuesday and can bring cash to purchase items on Wednesday and Thursday.  Please check your child’s Google Classroom website to see the day your child will be able to purchase.
  3. Fun Lunch is on Thursday June 20 – if you want your child to participate, please ensure you have pre-ordered their meal on Healthy Hunger before midnight on Saturday June 15.  M/W Kindergarten should NOT order this meal.  Reminder, we cannot accept Skip/DoorDash deliveries on Fun Lunch days.
  4. School Council Meeting on Tuesday June 18 @ 6:30 pm online. If you are interested in participating in this meeting, please email adtaylor@cbe.ab.ca before noon on Monday to receive the meeting link.
  5. Friendly reminder that ALL school books (home reading and library) should have already been returned to the school.  Please ensure you have no other books at your home – thank you.
  6. LAST CHANCE – if you have not already registered for bussing for next year, please remember the last day to register is Sunday June 16!   All students who will be using the bus MUST register, even if they are already currently riding the bus.   Pre-registration is used to create the stops and routes.  Please remember to register!
  7. Leaving LRD?   If you are planning on leaving the school year early, please be sure to let the teacher and office know as we will need to ensure that all personal items are sent home prior to you leaving.  If you are not returning to LRD next year, please confirm with the office where you will be attending so we can ensure student files are transferred to the appropriate school.  Any unclaimed items or belongings will be discarded or donated on June 27.
  8. SPORTS DAY is on Friday June 21!   ALL students will get the opportunity to participate in some fun outdoor activities on Friday.  ALL kindergarten students should be attending this fun day.  Kindergarten and Grade 1 student should be wearing a designated coloured shirt so they know which group they are in. Please check your child’s Google Classroom to see which colour they should be wearing. Our fingers are crossed that it will be a beautiful sunny day! Please ensure you have applied sunscreen and bug spray on your children BEFORE they come to school.  They are also welcome to wear a hat for protection if they choose to.
  9. UNIFORMS – Monday is the last day of uniforms!  Starting June 18 until the end of the school year, students are invited to wear casual clothing each day.  As uniforms are done for the year, please check to see what still fits your child (remember dresses and skirts need to go to the knee!) and if you are interested in donating any uniform items for our used uniform sale, please wash and send items to the school between June 18- 21.  We will be accepting TLC cardigans, TLC crested golf shirts, tartan ties, tartan dresses, TLC vests.   We are still in desperate need of volunteers to come and work the used uniform sale on Monday June 24 from 2:15 – 3:00.  If you are able to come and help, please contact lrdchair@gmail.com    Thank you so much.
  10.   11. REPORT CARDS- they will be available to families on June 26th on your School Engage account.  Families are responsible to PRINT their own report cards and they will only be available for the first week of July – please be sure to print your report card BEFORE July 5th.   If you are leaving the CBE, you will need to print your report card before June 28 as you will not have access after that date since you will be removed from the CBE database.   BEST PRACTICE – everyone should print the report cards on June 26!!  J
  12. Finally, we would like to say HAPPY FATHER’s DAY to all the dads, uncles, grandpas and male role models that influence and support each of our students.   We hope you are able to enjoy a fun filled day with your children.
