Dear Parents,

We have been able to enjoy the beautiful weather this week and are preparing for a shift this weekend!

  1. SCHOOL REGISTRATION for 2025-2026.  If you have a child that is going to be coming to Kindergarten, you MUST complete the registration process before Feb 11 in order for your child to be entered in the lottery and receive a spot at LRD  (even if you have a sibling here – it is not automatic!!)   If your child is in Grade 3 and you are planning on going to Fairview for next year – you do not need to do anything.  If your child is not going to Fairview, please follow the registration process for the school you are planning on attending and please let the LRD office know where you are going so we can ensure files are sent to the correct school.
  2. Please remember to send your children with all the appropriate winter clothing, especially as it is becoming chilly again, as we do go outside for recess and lunch. 
  3. Fun Lunch is on Thursday January 23.  If you would like your child to participate, please be sure to order you lunch on Healthy Hunger before midnight on Saturday, Jan 18.   Mon/Wed Kindergarten should NOT order this meal.   Reminder, we are asking that parents do not order SKIP on Fun Lunch days as it is very chaotic distributing all the other meals.  If you want your child to have a fun/hot lunch, please order through Healthy Hunger.
  4. All shirts for the concert should already be at school at this time.  If you have not yet sent it, please ensure it arrives on Monday.
  5. School Council is on January 21 @ 6:30 pm online.  If you are interested in participating in this meeting, please email adtaylor@cbe.ab.ca by noon on Monday and the link will be sent to you.  If you have participated in the past, you will automatically receive the meeting link and do not need to request it again.
  6. Snack plan – thank you so much to those families who supported their children by sending snacks that support our “snack challenge” for the next few weeks.  As a reminder, we are trying to bring the following items to promote healthy eating as part of PE and Well-being at the school.
    • MILK MONDAY –please send something from the dairy family : yogurt, cheese, milk etc
    • TURKEY TUESDAY – you don’t need to send turkey J but please send something from the protein food group : meat, eggs, seeds etc  (no nuts please)
    • WATER WEDNESDAY – please ensure you child has a water bottle so they can enjoy water with their snack
    • THANKFUL for VEGGIES THURSDAY – please send some veggies : carrot sticks, celery, cucumber, mini tomatoes etc
    • FRUIT FRIDAY -  please send some pre-cut fruit : apples, grapes, oranges (already peeled) etc
