Dear Parents,

Happy New Year and welcome back to school and routine!

We are fully back into the swing of things here at school and there are many exciting events happening in the near future so please be sure to read below so you are in the loop!

  1. There are 2 Fun Lunches this month!   If you would like your child to receive the fun lunch on Wednesday Jan 14, please be sure to place your order on Healthy Hunger before midnight TONIGHT!   The next lunch is on Thursday, Jan 29 and orders need to be placed by midnight on Jan 24.  As a friendly reminder, please do NOT send Skip/Door Dash or other delivery services for your child on fun lunch days as it adds to a very busy lunch hour.  If you do not participate in the Fun Lunch, please send a regular lunch with your child and remember to send a snack, even if your child is getting fun lunch.  Thanks for your help with this.
  2. Friendly reminder for school start times.  Please be sure you are getting to either your bus stops or the school at least 10 minutes before expected time.  This allows you time to visit with your children, set them up for a calm start to the day and always ensures that they are able to start learning on time.  If you drop off at the school, students should be arriving and entering the building at 7:45.  All students should be inside the building by 7:55.  If you are running late and arrive inside the school fencing after 8am, the doors will be closed and locked for safety so you will need to escort your children to the front of the building as we want to make sure no one is left outside, especially in the event of cold weather.  We thank you for making the effort to have your children here and ready for learning on time.  As they say – “If you are not early – you are late!”  😊
  3. Oh how the children have grown!!  We have noticed many children who grew over the holidays.  Please take this opportunity to see if their uniform items still fit them.  Dress pants (NOT LEGGINGS) are to their ankles, skirts and Tartan dresses are to the knee, white dress shirts are clean and have all buttons, cardigans are clean with all buttons and long sleeves.  If your child is in need of new items, please remember the purchasing window closes on January 31with McCarthy’s.
  4. Grade 3 families, please check your child’s backpack for an important letter that has been sent home for your reference. Thank you for ensuring that the form is returned before next Friday, January 16th.
  5. Grade 3 families – thank you to those families who already purchased their recorders for music.  They have arrived and will be given to students next week.  If you did not purchase a recorder through the school, please be sure to either send a recorder from an older sibling or please go to Long and McQuade music store this weekend to purchase one.  All Grade 3 students should have their recorders here at school for Monday and please be sure to label them so “germs” are not shared.  😊 Thank you so much.
  6. AUDITIONS are here!  We are asking any Grade 3 students who may be interested in a speaking part for our Annual Concert in April to please plan to audition next week.  Please come prepared to read (or have memorized) the following script piece for the audition.  We are looking for enthusiasm, intonation, and clear, loud pronunciation during the audition.  Good luck to all who try out.  Successful audition students will be shared in next Friday’s email with practices starting mid February.

Olaf was a happy snowman, curious and heartfelt, he always wanted to explore the world around him. He had a secret desire to see all the exciting things that happen in Arendelle, especially during summer.  He had no idea of the dangers that would come if he, a snowman, lived through the summer.  In his mind it was an amazing time of beach going, swimming and having ice cream.  Living in Calgary, we all know what happens when the warm weather comes….who is going to tell Olaf?

                Monday Jan 12 – Rm 3 & 4

                Tuesday Jan 13 – Rm 5 & 6

                Thursday Jan 15 – Rm 7 & 8

As always, we hope you have a wonderful weekend.  Enjoy your time as a family and we look forward to seeing everyone again next week, including those parents volunteering for the many field trips that are happening.

Sincerely,

Andrea Taylor – Principal @ Le Roi Daniels
