Dear Parents,

Well we made it!  The first week of school is done!  It has been a wonderful week of welcoming our Kindergarten students, making new friends, learning routines and expectations and following instructions (especially for loading the buses😊).

Reminder that today is FRIDAY which means we are dismissed at noon!!  If you are picking up your child at school, please be here for noon and if your child rides the bus, please be sure to look at the amended pick up time for Fridays.

Thank you so much for joining us in our virtual meet the teacher sessions last night.  I know the teachers enjoyed getting to meet you and share all the exciting things that are going to be happening in their classrooms this year!

  1. As this was the first week, we know there were lots of reminders and everyone was doing their best to get students to and from school safely.  We want to remind you of a couple of important rules when dropping off and picking up your children :
  • Please DO NOT pull into either school parking lot
  • Please park across the street and use the CROSSWALK to get to the school (NO J-WALKING)
  • Please do not do U-TURNS within the school zone (there is hefty ticket for that!)
  • Please be sure to arrive early so you have time to get your children to their designated doors.
  • For those parents who pick up, you will have noticed the 2 buses at the front of the school.  We are asking you to please ensure you are not walking through the line up area so our students to not get “lost” as we are trying to load the buses.  Thank you for your help as we navigate these new additional buses.
  1. If you have not returned your welcome back package forms, please be sure to complete them and send them on Monday.  Don’t forget to complete the ones online as well (they are listed at the bottom of the yellow page in your package)
  2. For your information, we are using Southland Transportation for all of our buses this year.  If you would like to track the buses on the app, please look at your CBE account under busing and follow the directions to get the app and follow your child’s bus.   If you need help, please call the office.
  3. Uniform reminders – PLEASE LABEL EVERYTHING!   Please also check your child’s pants….leggings, joggers or pants with elastics at the ankle are NOT uniform pants, please ensure you are wearing cotton twill straight leg pants to meet uniform expectations.
  4. Terry Fox Run is on Friday Sept 12.  This is a CASUAL DAY which means students can wear any type of clothing they choose. This is an opportunity for us to participate as a school and recognize the amazing achievements made by Terry Fox and the support and awareness he brought to Cancer Research.  Students will have an opportunity to run laps in our field on Friday to experience empathy for what Terry may have felt after his many miles of running.  Students are encouraged to bring a Toonie for Terry on Friday (if you would like to donate more, that would be wonderful!) and all funds will be donated to the Cancer Research Foundation.
  5. CASINO VOLUNTEERS NEEDED – We are very fortunate to have an opportunity to raise funds for our school to help pay for field trip buses, special events and programs that directly support your child and their learning through hosting a CASINO.  This 1 event provides up to $80,000 for the school and is very important, but we cannot have it without your help.  We are needing 60ish volunteers, throughout various times on Oct 22 & 23.   Please sign up to volunteer at: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C084FA5A72FABF5CE9-57857911-casino?useFullSite=true#/       Anyone who completes their shift at the casino will be gifted preferential seating at our school wide concert for both the 2025/26 school year as well as 2026/2027.There is no experience needed and there are snacks and beverages provided for volunteers. We need your help so please be sure to sign up today!
