Dear Parents,

I cannot believe the first month of school is already over!  Where did the time go?

As we head into another month full of fieldtrips, holidays and celebrations, please be sure to read the messages below so you don’t miss out on any fun activities that are happening.

  1. Please read the October Newsletter and Calendar:      October2025Newsletter.pdf     October2025Calendar.pdf
  2. All students should have brought home their photo proofs this week.  Please be sure to place your orders online ASAP.  If you require retakes, you will need to email your child’s teacher to request them and the retake days are Oct 27 & 28.
  3. Although it has only been a month of school, teachers have been working diligently on assessments, planning and setting clear expectations and routines!  As part of our communication to you as parents, at the end of every month, you will be able to access some current marks for each subject area.  Due to the business of Alberta assessments, teachers will only be sharing current marks for Literacy and Numeracy but next month you will see ALL subject areas with current learning marks.  You can find these current marks on you CBE account on Sept 26.
  4. As part of school start up, routines and expectations are crucial to setting students up for success.  Teachers have already been sending emails sharing where there may be some concerns regarding students following routines, expectations or demonstrating our TLC Character Education components, specifically RESPECT for this month.  It is important that we partner together to ensure that all students are following expectations, setting good examples and showing respect to those around them, especially towards the adults that are here to support them.  If you receive one of these emails, we are asking you to please have conversations with your children to ensure that both you and they are aware of the expectations (as shared in the parent handbook sent to you in August) and partner with us to set them up for success.  Despite only being here for a month, routines and expectations are required for all students to be safe and responsible.  We thank you for supporting your child’s teacher and the alternative program you chose for your child.
  5. We have 2 major fundraising events during the school year.  The first is our cheque writing campaign.  This will begin Oct 6 and run through until Oct 31.  Details will come next week.  The second is our CASINO.  We are in desperate need of volunteers for this event to occur.  We still need 40 volunteers!!  Please use the link below to sign up for a time slot to help on Oct 22 or 23.

Finally, as we head into an uncertain time with a possible strike looming, we want to let you know that we are doing everything possible to support your children and ensure they have continuous learning.  In the event that a strike does occur, we will be postponing some events that were scheduled for that week and will communicate with you as the dates and times occur.   We thank you for your support as we navigate through this very complex time.

Reminder that there is no school on Monday or Tuesday – we will see everyone back to school on Wednesday October 1.

As always, we thank you for choosing to be part of Le Roi Daniels and hope you have a wonderful weekend.

Sincerely,

Andrea Taylor – Principal @ Le Roi Daniels
