Weekly Update February 12 - 14

Dear Parents,

It has been a very busy week!  Thank you to all the parents who came to volunteer for the many fieldtrips and activities that happened this past week.  We could not participate in these fun activities without your help.

Couple of updates and reminders for this very short week.  I apologize for sounding like a broken record, however these reminders are still not being followed by all families:

  1. We have been noticing more and more students arriving BEFORE supervision begins in the morning.  For your child’s safety, please only drop off your children after 7:45am and hopefully before 7:55 so they can be in class ready to learn for 8:00am.
  2. We are half way through the year and we are noticing that many of our children are not wearing appropriate uniform pieces.  Friendly reminder – on Mondays (Tuesday for T/Th Kindergarten) all students need to be in white dress shirt – this means the buttons go all the way to their belly button!  If it only has the 3 buttons, that is a golf shirt and not part of the formal uniform.  We would also like to remind you again that leggings are never part of uniform – if they need something to keep their legs warm, they need to wear tights.  All socks/tights need to be navy for boys and girls.  Please help us maintain the uniform expectations and help your child work with their classmates to earn ice cream for perfect uniform checks.  Thank you so much.
  3. SAFETY for pickups and drop-offs:
  • Please never use the parking lots near the schools for drop off or pick up
  • Please do not double park or stop in the middle of the road to have your children enter or exit the car
  • Please do not J-walk (near the school or at bus stops)
  • At bus stops, please do not park where the bus needs to park
  • At bus stops, please follow the rules of the road for safety.  No parking in crosswalks, bus zones or in front of fire hydrants.
  • We need to all work together to ensure our students are safe and we are all setting a good example for our little ones to learn from.
  1. Reminder that next Wednesday is Valentine’s Day. Please check your child’s Google Classroom for details and events happening in their classrooms.  It is a CASUAL day and all students are invited to wear Red, White, Pink or Purple to celebrate Valentine’s Day.
  1. There is no school on Thursday and Friday as all staff are at Convention for Professional Development.  The school will be closed.

We hope you all have a wonderful weekend.

Sincerely,

Andrea Taylor – Principal @ Le Roi Daniels
