Weekly Update Feb 5 - 9
Dear Parents,
Welcome to February! It is a short but very busy month so please take a moment to read the updates below:
- Please review the February Newsletter and Calendar if you missed the Wednesday links. Feb2024Calendar.pdf Feb2024Newsletter.docx.pdf
- We know there have been some late buses in the past week and we apologize for the inconvenience. However, as there are many fieldtrips this coming week, we want to remind you to please check your bus app and if your bus is going to be more than 15 min late, please bring your child to school to ensure they catch their fieldtrip bus on their designated day. Unfortunately, field trip buses cannot wait for late school buses to arrive and we want to make sure your children are able to participate in these fun experiences. Reminder: if your child is attending a field trip, they need to be in their FORMAL UNIFORM. Thank you for your support for this.
- Registration reminder – if you have a child starting Kindergarten in September, please remember to complete your registration process before Feb. 13 to ensure your child is in the lottery process.
- We have received some concerns and complaints regarding parents who are entering the Fairview School parking lot to drop off and pick up their children. As mentioned many times before – please DO NOT drop off or pick up in any parking lot but rather park across the street and have students use the designated crosswalks to enter the school area. This is a safety concern and we are asking all families to please follow these expectations to keep our little ones safe. Thank you.
- Lunar New Year celebration – students who formally celebrate Lunar New Year, are invited to wear their FANCY and FORMAL Celebration clothing on Friday Feb 9 for the yearbook photo. Students who do not formally celebrate this holiday as part of their culture or religion are expected to still be in uniform.
- We need your help! With all the nice weather we have been having over the past 2 weeks, many of our students take off their coats when they are outside as it gets quite warm with a sweater. During one of these days, 2 matching coats were collected by the wrong student. If your child has blue girls Costco jacket, can you please check the label inside to ensure it does not have the name “EMMA” inside. Someone accidently grabbed Emma’s coat and left theirs behind. If you have it, please send it to school on Monday and we will exchange for the correct coats. Thank you for your help.
- USED BOOK SALE- As many of you know, we historically have Scholastic Book Fair in March during conferences, however this year we moved our Book Fair to June and will be hosting a USED BOOK SALE during conferences. Families are encouraged to look through their books at home and if you have gently used books (not damaged, ripped, colored on or water damaged) that you are wanting to purge and donate to the school, we will gladly accept them. Please send any donations to the school between February 1 – March 20. Books should be age appropriate (for children 10 years or younger). During conferences in March, students will have an opportunity to visit the used book sale and choose some new reading material for themselves. All books will be $5.oo or less and all funds raised will go towards purchasing new books for the Library! Any unsold books, will be donated to charity. We thank you in advance for your donations.
- Please remember to look at and print your child’s report card which can be found on your School Engage account.
We hope you all have a wonderful weekend and look forward to a busy first full week of February.
Sincerely,
Andrea Taylor – Principal @ Le Roi Daniels
