Dear Parents,

Thank you so much for your generosity this week as you have sent in so many amazing items to help the Calgary Drop-in Center and Calgary Food Bank.  Please see the attached photo of all the amazing items that were sent in as well as over $600!!  All of this shows the awesome character traits that make Le Roi Daniels and the families so great!  Thank you.     Generosity.jpg

As we head into the last school week of 2025, there are lots of exciting activities happening so please take a moment to read below so you do not miss anything!

  1. Fun Lunch is on Wednesday Dec 17.  If you would like your child to participate, please ensure that you have placed your order before midnight tonight!  Reminder that the Tues/ Thurs Kindie classes should NOT order this fun lunch as this is not their school day.
  2. Class parties next week – please check your child’s google classroom to see if there is anything happening in your child’s class and what you can do to help.
  3. Homework- there will be no homework over the Christmas break.  We will resume homework on January 14 after we have completed our first week of school in the New Year.
  4. Monday is the FANCY/FORMAL Christmas Attire for those families who celebrate Christmas as part of their Christian religion, culture and tradition.  If this is part of your heritage we invite you to wear your fancy Christmas Eve clothing for our yearbook photo (the same way we have done for those who celebrate Eid, Ramadan, Diwali etc).  This is not a casual day and those families who celebrate other religious holidays and cultures should be in their formal uniform on Monday.
  5. Tuesday – Friday are CASUAL DAYS!!  We invite all students to wear casual clothing for the rest of the week and we have some fun themes that they are able to participate in.  If you don’t have these items – no worries, casual is welcome in any way 😊
  • Tuesday – WEAR Christmas colors!  Choose any color that you may find on Christmas lights and wear that to school.  Reminder that Grade 2 Choir is performing at the Senior’s residence on Tuesday and they must be in their navy uniform bottoms with a red or green shirt.  Please be sure that you have returned your fieldtrip form as well if not already done 😊
  • Wednesday – WEAR Christmas sweater
  • Thursday – WEAR Christmas hats, elf ears, antlers or any other fun Christmas head décor.  Gr 2 Choir will be performing during our carol singing and parents are welcome to attend.  Please arrive by 1:15 to join our carolling at 1:30!
  • Friday – sleep in and wear your PJs to school!!
  1. Christmas Break is Dec 22 – Jan 4 with the first day back on Jan 5.
  2. We will send out the January newsletter on Friday Jan 2 for your reference.
  3. Please use the time over the break to work with your children on building independence!  Please teach them how to get ready with all of their winter gear, the order it should go on, and the order it should come off so they can do this by themselves when they return after the break. It is really important that ALL children know how to take off their boots quickly by themselves - please practice everyday.  We also have many children who still don't know how to tie their own shoes (even in Grade 3!!!), please practice with them over the break so they can become masters of independence.😊Thank you

We hope everyone enjoys the weekend, stays warm and has fun with family and friends as the Christmas season draws closer.

Sincerely,

Andrea Taylor – Principal @ Le Roi Daniels
