School Update 

To the students and families of LRD, 

A big thank you to all of our students and families who were able to join us for today’s Ice Cream Social! The intention of this event was to help support a positive and comfortable transition back to school for our students. We hope the opportunity to meet their teacher, visit their classroom, and become a little more familiar with what to expect helped build excitement and confidence as we prepare for the first day of school. It was wonderful to see so many smiling faces back at Le Roi Daniels, and we are looking forward to officially welcoming everyone back next week!

Upcoming Important Dates 

Kindergarten | Staggered Entry & Information 

Please note that Kindergarten will be operating with staggered entry for the first 2 days of school. 

August 31st - Monday/Wednesday Kindergarten  

• Last Name A-M (8:30 – 9:30am) 
• Last Name N-Z (10:00am – 11:00am) 

September 1st - Tuesday/Thursday Kindergarten – 

• Last Name A-M (8:30 – 9:30am) 
• Last Name N-Z (10:00am – 11:00am) 

Key Update: During this staggered Kindergarten timeslot, parents will be saying goodbye to their children at the main entrance and will NOT need to come into the building for forms and paperwork. This is a change from what was previously communicated in May. As a friendly reminder, most of this information is available on your MyCBE account and we ask you to attend to these as soon as possible. 

There will be NO BUSSING for K students during staggered entry dates:  

First full day kindergarten is Wednesday, September 2, 2026 

2026–2027 School Hours 

As we prepare for the start of the school year, we would like to remind families of our 2026–2027 school hours at Le Roi Daniels. 

Grades 1–3 

Monday–Thursday: 8:00 AM–2:30 PM 
Lunch: 11:47 AM–12:25 PM 
Friday: 8:00 AM–12:00 PM 

Kindergarten 

Monday/Wednesday Class: 
Monday and Wednesday: 8:00 AM–2:30 PM 
Alternate Fridays: 8:00 AM–12:00 PM 

Tuesday/Thursday Class: 
Tuesday and Thursday: 8:00 AM–2:30 PM 
Alternate Fridays: 8:00 AM–12:00 PM 

Morning Arrival 

Outdoor supervision begins at 7:45 AM, and school doors will open at this time for soft entry. Students are welcome to enter the school beginning at 7:45 AM and make their way to their classrooms. Classes begin promptly at 8:00 AM. 

We appreciate families helping students arrive on time and ready for a great day of learning! 

Student Entry 

For the first two days of school, are Grade 1-3 students will be meeting their teacher outside prior to entering the school. On Wednesday, we will begin our regular entry procedures. Listed below are the doors that will be used starting on Wednesday, September 2nd. 

• Kindergarten: (West Gym Doors | Faces Fairview)  
• Grade 1: (South Gym Doors | Faces Portables)  
• Grade 2: (South Doors near Portables) 
• Grade 3:  
• Room 4-8 (West Doors | Faces Fairview) 
• Room 24-25 (Portable Doors) 
• Late students: after 8:00 am use Main Entrance 

Bussing and Student Safety 

The safety and well-being of our students is of great importance to us, particularly as students become familiar with new routines at the beginning of the school year. Each Le Roi Daniels bus will have an adult present to support supervision, and attendance will be taken before students depart on the bus ride home. 

On the first day of school, all students who take the bus will receive a label identifying their bus letter to help ensure they board the correct bus at the end of the day. Beginning on the second day, we will use a marker to write each student’s bus letter on their hand. This provides staff with a quick and visible way to confirm that students are boarding the correct bus. We typically continue this practice for approximately the first week of school, until students have become familiar and comfortable with their bussing routines. 

If you are strongly opposed to having your child’s bus letter written on their hand, please contact us at leroidaniels@cbe.ab.ca, and we will explore an alternative accommodation. We appreciate your support as we work together to make dismissal and bussing as safe and smooth as possible for all students. 

Lunch Schedule | Kindergarten - Grade 3 

Lunch is from 11:47am –12:25pm. Students are encouraged not to bring peanut products for lunch, and as a friendly reminder, microwaves and hot water are not available for use. 

CCT (Classroom Complexity Team) | Inform 

This fall, the CBE has hired hundreds of teachers, education assistants, and other school staff to support student learning. These positions have been funded by the Government of Alberta with the intention of addressing classroom complexity and class sizes. 
 
We are pleased to welcome additional new staff to our school for the 2026-27 school year: 

• Emily Blue (CCT Teacher) 
• Chantelle Stewart (CCT Educational Assistant) 
• Urvi Gohel (CCT Educational Assistant) 

This additional staff will help ensure students benefit from: 

• Increased teacher attention 
• Improved classroom learning environments 
• Greater support for diverse learning needs
