Dear Parents,

Happy Easter to those who celebrate!  We hope everyone is able to enjoy the long weekend and hopefully enjoy some nice weather.  There are some important reminders for next week so please be sure to look below so you don’t miss anything.

  1. Fun Lunch is on Wednesday April 23 so if you are interested in having your child participate, please be sure to order on Healthy Hunger before midnight on Friday, April 18.  Reminder that Tues/Thurs students should not be ordering this meal.
  2. Reminder there is no school for students on Monday.
  3. Recognizing our support staff!  Next week, April 22-25 is Support Staff appreciation week with a special day to honor our secretaries on April 23.  Our school could not run as efficiently as it does without the dedicated and consistent staff we have to help in the school.  This includes our secretaries, school assistants, librarian, custodians and lunchroom supervisors.  Please remind your children to say thank you to them next week as a way of showing appreciation for all they do to support your little ones in being successful at school.
  4. As we continue to plan for next year, please let us know if you are not going to be attending LRD as we need to ensure we have all vacant positions filled for next year.
  5. YEARBOOK ORDER – this is your last chance to order yearbooks!  Please double check on your account to see if you have already purchased one (check you history) and if you have not ordered one, but would like one, please be sure to order and pay for the yearbook by April 24.  Late orders will not be accepted.  All yearbooks will be delivered before the end of school in June.
  6. Outdoor Classroom Proposal – thank you to those parents who participated in School Council on Tuesday, April 15.  During that meeting we discussed the opportunity to create an outdoor classroom space, which was positively received by parents.  As there is a significant cost to this proposal, we are letting all families know that there will be more information provided at our next school council meeting on May 13 (also the AGM) if you are interested in learning more about this project.
  7. SUPPORTING PARENTS – Alberta Education knows that having a partnership between schools and parents is crucial in setting students up for success, therefore they provide each school with $500 to support parent professional development.  As we did last year, we are going to have a book draw for parents.  We have purchased books that support the skill of listening, which is something our students are focusing on. If you are interested in being entered into the draw for one of the free books below, please email adtaylor@cbe.ab.ca with your name and the name of your child by April 25.   The draw will be completed on April 28 and books will be sent home with your child.

As always, have a great long weekend!

Sincerely,

Andrea Taylor – Principal @ Le Roi Daniels
