Dear Parents,

It is hard to believe the first week has already come and gone!  All of the students are quickly becoming used to their new classes, teachers and making new friends.  There are many events happening already in the next weeks so please be sure to look at the message below and mark your calendars.

  1. Thank you so much to all those families who have completed the welcome back package of forms and have sent them back to the school already.  If you have not completed the forms, including the ONLINE forms, please be sure to complete and return for Monday Sept 9th.
  2. Friendly reminder to please register for noon supervision on your MyCBE account.  ALL students must register for this service unless they go HOME at lunchtime.
  3. We are going to take advantage of the beautiful weather we are having and students will be able to participate in PE outside for the coming weeks, so please be sure they come with appropriate outdoor footwear and coats.
  4. School fees – please be sure to pay all your school fees (fieldtrips) on your CBE account by the end of September, especially as we have many fieldtrips already happening J
  5. If you have not sent your child’s inside black/running shoes (that remain at the school), please ensure they are here at the school for Monday, although we have nice weather right now, you never know when the rain will come!
  6. Fun Lunches are starting at the end of the month.  Please watch for a separate email on how to register and log into Healthy Hunger to order your child their fun lunch on designated dates.
  7. Friendly reminder to please send your child utensils if they are needed for their lunch or snack.  Unfortunately, the school is not able to supply utensils for student use.  Thank you
  8. As the school year is just beginning and we have already had many students who have experienced bathroom accidents (especially in K/1), please be sure to send your child with an extra set of clothes in their backpack in a plastic bag if they experience bathroom issues.  In the event that there is an accident and there are no clothes in the backpack, parents will need to come and bring a new set of clothes for their child as we do not have any extra clothes at the school. Thank you.
  9. The Terry Fox Run is happening on Friday Sept 13!

·        All classes and students have been learning about Terry and the amazing perseverance, determination, care and commitment he shared and showed through this life.  All of these are amazing traits that we want our students to aspire too as well.

·        We want to demonstrate generosity through our donations for the Terry Fox Foundation and bring more awareness cancer research.   Please use the link    https://schools.terryfox.ca/71715    to donate money greater than $20 to get your tax receipt or send your spare change with students tomorrow and we will collect, count and share with your our final donation amount in our October Newsletter.

·        As students will be running outside for this special occasion, we are inviting students to be in CASUAL clothing for Friday.  This means students do NOT need to wear their uniforms on Friday, Sept 13 but please ensure they are dressed for the weather and being outside for both PE and the Terry Fox Run.

·        We would also like to thank school council for generously providing drinks and snacks for this special event.

  1. Finally, we would like to remind parents again to please follow the rules of the road and driving recommendations that were shared last week and in the newsletter.  Our patrol guards were almost hit by parent drivers multiple times this week, despite holding a stop sign and wearing a vest!  Please remember to SLOW DOWN, show patience, and teach your children to cross at the crosswalk.  There should be no j-walking, u-turns or stopping to unload children in the road within the school zone.  We want everyone to be safe and we want to teach the rules of the road so everyone is showing respect to those around them and hopefully not getting tickets!

Thank you so much for reading all the above messaging and helping your child be the most successful that they can be this year.

Sincerely,

Andrea Taylor – Principal @ Le Roi Daniels
