Dear Parents,

What a beautiful start to the school year.  We had an amazing morning running for Terry Fox!  Thank you for all the generous donations, we will let you know how much we raised next week.

Please take a moment to read the updates so you don’t miss important information.

1) The weather continues to be beautiful outside and students are able to enjoy time outside during PE, however we know it can’t last forever….please be sure to have your child’s inside shoes labelled and at school this week.

2) PHOTO DAY IS MONDAY!!!  (T/Th Kindie will do their photos on Tuesday Sept. 19).  Please ensure your child is in their formal uniform.  This includes: white collared dress shirt with long sleeve green cardigan and either their tartan dress (which should be to their knees) or NAVY DRESS pants with the tartan tie and black shoes.

3) Fun Lunch is coming on Sept 28th!  Please be sure to create your Healthy Hunger Account (account set up details were sent home last week) and order your child’s meal BEFORE midnight on Sept 23.  Late orders cannot be accepted.  Only T/Th Kindie should order this month.

4) Speaking of food – we would like to remind you that we are nut aware school and therefore students should not be bringing food items that contain nuts.  This includes Nutella, peanut butter, almond butter or other nut products.  Please help us in ensuring that everyone is safe at school.

5) SCHOOL FEES are DUE – As we already have many fieldtrips happening this month, it is important for all families to please go onto your CBE Account, find school fees, click on all field trip fees for your grade, add them to your cart and pay it in full with your Credit Card.   We are asking you to please all of these school fees BEFORE the end of September as we have already started booking and paying for many of these events.  There are no waivers for these fees.  Thank you for clearing these fees ASAP.  Transportation and Noon Supervision fees will posted to your account as well and can be paid monthly if you wish.

6) School Council Meeting on Tuesday September 19 at 6pm in the Learning Commons at the school.  Everyone is welcome to attend, meet with administration, hear about what is happening at the school, and make connections with other families. Please plan to join us!

7) CASINO VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: School Council is able to support our school in many ways, including buses for field trips, school experiences such as Quest Theatre performances, PE residencies and snacks for events such as Terry Fox and Ice Cream Social!   All of this support takes financial commitments and we are hoping you can help.  We are very fortunate to participate in the AGLC Casino project where we receive the profits (up to $80,000) from a casino approximately every 18 months but it doesn’t come for free!   We need your help….  We have our casino on November 13 & 14 and we need volunteers.  There is no experience required, no police clearance needed, we just need people who want to come and help our children.   Please see the attached link to sign up for a volunteer time and position.

If you are unsure, or have more questions, please plan to join us at our School Council meeting on Tuesday Sept 19 at 6pm in the Learning Commons at the school.   As an extra incentive….any person who attends their volunteer shift at the casino will also be given priority seating at our school concert at First Alliance Church for the 2023/24 school year    AND    2024/25 school year.

Thank you for your commitment to our school and volunteering for this important event.

8) Demonstrating RESPECT as a community - we are asking for your help!  We have had multiple phone calls and visits this week from our neighbours as they are becoming frustrated with parents blocking their driveways, alley ways or driving in unsafe manners through the community around the school.  We are asking you to please help us by demonstrating respect for the community by please parking in appropiate areas, never blocking driveways or alleyways and driving safely in the area.  Ultimately, we want everyone to be safe and be respectful to each other.  Thank you for helping us show respect to our neighbours.

We hope you have a great weekend.

Sincerely,

Andrea Taylor - Principal @ Le Roi Daniels
