Dear Parents,
Welcome Back and Happy New Year!!
It is very busy here at the school as we are finishing up learning for the first term and getting ready to complete report cards! As well, we are getting ready for our 101 Dalmatians at the end of the month! Please be sure to read the reminders below to ensure you don’t miss anything important coming up in the school. :)
1) I am sure that many of your children received some amazing gifts over the holiday, including new technology. I would like to remind you that personal devices (cell phones, smart watches, blue tooth headphones etc ) are not allowed in the classroom during the day as per the new legislation starting September 2024. I would strongly recommend that you have your child leave those devices at home for safety as we would not want your investments to be lost, stolen or broken. If you choose to send these items to school, students will be required to put them in their backpack for the day and will only be able to access them AFTER the bell has gone at the end of the day. Thank you for helping us follow and adhere to this government legislation.
2) There have been MANY questions regarding the shirts for our performance….
- Kindergarten students need to bring a plain BLACK shirt (preferably long sleeved) to the school by Monday/Tuesday. It doesn’t matter if it is collared or not or if it has buttons or not :) Please ensure you have labelled your child’s shirt.
- Grade 1- 3 students need to bring a plain WHITE shirt (preferably long sleeved) to the school by Monday. It doesn’t matter if it is collared or not or if it has buttons or not :) Please ensure you have labelled your child’s shirt.
- These shirts will remain at the school until Jan 30 (day of the concert) and then we will send it home with your child from school that day so they can WEAR IT to the church.
- ALL STUDENTS should be wearing navy or black bottoms (dress pants or skirt) with BLACK or NAVY socks (they will not be wearing shoes so it is important to have dark socks!)
3) We have also had many requests regarding when the tickets will be coming home….as mentioned in the Friday messages before Christmas. Tickets will be sent home with students the last week of January (Jan 27-28). We know that if we send them too early, they often get misplaced and it is very important that you have your tickets with you when you arrive at the church on Jan 30 at 6pm.
4) There will be many more updates and reminders for our concert over the next few weeks so please be sure to always read the messages to ensure nothing is missed. :)
5) FUN LUNCH – is on January 23. If you would like your child to participate and receive a fun lunch, please be sure to place your order on Healthy Hunger before midnight on Saturday, January 18. Friendly reminder – the M/W kindergarten students should NOT order this meal.
6) As part of our Physical Education and Well-being targets and goals this year, we are looking at healthy choices for snacks and lunches to help our brains do their best thinking. Starting Monday, Jan. 13 until Wednesday, Feb 12, students are going to be working together to try and enjoy different foods from all the food groups during snack. Please help them to sending something from the following food groups each day….
- MILK MONDAY –please send something from the dairy family : yogurt, cheese, milk etc
- TURKEY TUESDAY – you don’t need to send turkey :) but please send something from the protein food group : meat, eggs, seeds etc (no nuts please)
- WATER WEDNESDAY – please ensure you child has a water bottle so they can enjoy water with their snack
- THANKFUL for VEGGIES THURSDAY – please send some veggies : carrot sticks, celery, cucumber, mini tomatoes etc
- FRUIT FRIDAY - please send some pre-cut fruit : apples, grapes, oranges (already peeled) etc
Thank you so much for your continued support and dedication to our school. We appreciate each of your children and you as families for making our school great!
Have a great weekend.
Sincerely,
Andrea Taylor – Principal @ Le Roi Daniels
