First Day!

Hello everyone,

Although I don't usually send you messages on a Thursday, I wanted to connect with you since it was our first day!

Thank you to all those families who remembered to park across the street, use the crosswalk and get your child to the school safely.   All of our students had a great start to the school year, we had our first welcome back assembly and enjoyed our first outdoor recess of the year.  Despite all the great things that happened today, there were also a few things that happened that we want to make sure you are aware of....

1) Due to some construction that was happening in the school since the summer, there was an outage to our phone systems in the afternoon.  We are hoping that this will be rectified by next Tuesday (Sept 5) but in the meantime, there is no voicemails and limited incoming calls to the school.  If you need to reach us, please keep phoning until it actually gets through to the school.  We apologize for the inconvenience.

2) If you are picking up your child from school - it is VERY IMPORTANT that you let the school know in advance.  You would normally call the school and leave a message on the pick up line, however with the phones being down right now, please email the school at leroidaniels@cbe.ab.ca and let us know you are picking up so we can ensure that all students go to the correct line ups at the end of the day.

3) Reminder that students can only use the bus that is attached to their School Account (Bus letters and routes have changed since last year), please ensure your child is using their designated Bus only.

4) Tomorrow is Friday and class is dismissed at 12:00.   If you are picking up, please be here at noon.  If you are using the bus, please check your stop time for Fridays and ensure you are there early to meet your child.  Reminder that students in Grade 1-3 can be dropped off at the bus stop regardless of a parent being there so it is important to be on time!  You should also have a back up plan in case you are not there.  Connect with another family at the bus stop to see share contacts be able to watch each other's children in the event one of you is running late.

5) As parents, it is important that your child knows which bus stop is theirs, please be sure to show them specific landmarks so they know where to get off as there may be multiple stops for each bus.

We are looking forward to another great day tomorrow and please be sure to watch for my Friday message.  If you do not get it, please be sure to contact the office on Tuesday to see why it it not linking to your email.

Thanks so much and welcome back!!

Sincerely,

Andrea Taylor - Principal @ Le Roi Daniels
