Principal’s Message
It is hard to believe we have already finished the first month of 2026. With the recent melting and refreezing, many icy areas have formed on both the sidewalks and the playground. Please take extra care when walking or playing outdoors, and exercise caution while driving near the school. We have many young students crossing the streets, and their safety is our top priority. Let’s enjoy this warm winter we are experiencing.
Report Cards will be available through your PowerSchool account on February 24, 2026. Please take a moment to review your child’s report card once it becomes accessible, as online viewing is available for a limited time. If you would like to keep a copy for your records, kindly print the report card at home. If you have any difficulty accessing PowerSchool or locating your child’s report card, please contact the school office—we are happy to assist.
TLC program and our school community, which is a reflection of the wonderful work happening at Le Roi Daniels. If you are interested in joining our school, or if you have a kindergarten sibling starting in September, please visit our school website to complete all required forms and registration steps.
If your child is already attending Le Roi Daniels, you do not need to register—they will transition automatically to the next grade level. Students currently in Grade 3 will also be automatically transferred to Fairview School for Grade 4 as part of the TLC program pathway.
As we begin planning for the upcoming school year, please let the office know if your child will not be returning to Le Roi Daniels. This information helps us ensure that student records are prepared accurately and sent to the correct school in a timely manner.
February is a vibrant month filled with engaging activities and meaningful learning opportunities. Please take a moment to review the updates and reminders below so your child can fully participate in the experiences planned for our students.
Finally, February offers a meaningful opportunity for families to connect and enjoy time together. I hope the month brings you special moments, shared learning, and lasting memories. Wishing you a warm, joyful, and restorative Family Day long weekend!

SAFETY
As we continue through the school year, changing weather conditions often create challenging areas on our sidewalks, fields, and roadways. We appreciate your partnership in helping keep all students safe.
Please remind your child to take extra care when walking to and from school. Roads may be slippery, and vehicles may require additional time to stop. Students should always wait until cars have come to a complete stop before crossing.
For drivers, please remember that our school zone is limited to 30 km/h, and U‑turns are not permitted anywhere in a playground zone, especially near corners or crosswalks where students are crossing. In addition, there is no drop‑off or pick‑up permitted in either parking lot, and vehicles should not double park at any time to let children in or out.
Students who ride the bus receive regular reminders about bus safety at school, and your reinforcement at home is greatly appreciated. Children must remain seated at all times, speak quietly with their seat mates, and show respect for everyone on the bus, including the driver. We also kindly ask parents to model safe and respectful behaviour at bus stops by avoiding double parking, keeping sidewalks and driveways clear, and being mindful of other families.
Due to ongoing melt‑and‑freeze cycles, walkways may become icy even with daily salting, sanding, and shoveling. Please continue to remind your child—just as we do during morning announcements—to walk carefully and stay aware of slippery areas. By working together, we can help keep our school community safe.
VALENTINE’S DAY
Students are welcome to wear pink, purple, red, or white on Wednesday, February 11 for our casual day as we celebrate Valentine’s Day and focus on kindness. Please check your child’s Google Classroom messages for information about any class‑specific activities.
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
As we move into the second half of the school year, we have many exciting field trips and school events that require the support of volunteers. If you are interested in helping, please ensure your CBE Police Clearance is up to date. You may contact the school office for guidance on how to complete the process. Thank you in advance for your willingness to support our students’ learning experiences!
PINK SHIRT DAY
February 25th is Pink Shirt Day, a day dedicated to promoting kindness, empathy, understanding, and inclusion. All students are encouraged to wear a pink shirt with their uniform bottoms to show their support.
Character Education
This month, our Character Education focus is Honesty—telling the truth, taking responsibility for our actions, and doing what is right; even when it feels difficult. At school, we see honesty when students admit a mistake, return a lost item, follow the rules when no one is watching, and speak truthfully to teachers and classmates. In the classroom, honesty helps students build trust during learning, group work, and friendships. At home, honesty looks like telling the truth about homework, admitting when something was broken, and sharing thoughts and feelings openly with family members. In our community and the wider world, honesty strengthens relationships, helps people work together fairly, and creates safe, caring environments for all. Learning to be honest helps children grow into trustworthy, responsible individuals who make good choices and build strong connections with others.
Truth and Reconciliation Commitment
As we step into February, we embrace the opportunity to embody kindness in our actions and words intentionally. This focus aligns seamlessly with the
Heart – To Belong domain of the Calgary Board of Education's Indigenous Holistic Lifelong Framework. Through this lens, we nurture a sense of belonging and interconnectedness, encouraging students to explore and develop meaningful and respectful relationships.
During this time, students will engage in intentional learning experiences designed to foster healthy relationships with themselves, their peers, their families, and the natural world around them. By reflecting on these connections, they will gain a deeper understanding of how relationships shape their individual growth, learning experiences, and contributions to the shared culture of the Le Roi Daniels community.
This month's focus provides a chance to reflect on kindness as a foundational value that strengthens our relationships and builds an inclusive and supportive community where everyone feels they belong. Through this shared journey, we honour and deepen our collective commitment to relationships that uphold respect, care, and compassion in all we do.
