Dear Parents, Welcome to March! With the winter storm this morning, we are hoping the phrase “in like a lion and out like a lamb” stands true and we will see spring coming this month with the end of winter! - March is a short but busy month so please be sure to take a look at the Newsletter and Calendar so you don’t miss anything. - As we are planning for next year, we have a short survey for parents to complete (it will take 5 minutes – longer if you watch the CBE video ). The School Development plan is linked for your reference, it was shared with School Council in October and reviewed again this week, as well as being posted on our website since October. Please complete this survey by March 15 as we use your feedback in planning for the 2024-25 school year. Thank you so much. - As we are in the final stretch of the school year, we want to remind you again of some of the important items that help your child be successful and build their independence (our character virtue focus this month)
- Bussing – if your child takes the bus and they are in Grade 1-3, please remember that the driver can let them off the bus, even if a parent is not there. Be sure your child knows how to get home if you are not there OR be sure to connect with another family at the stop that will take your child if you are not there and exchange phone numbers.
- Homework – we know families and students are always busy with sports, activities and lessons after school, however completing homework ON TIME and submitting it each week strengthens their learning and skills, teaches accountability and helps them follow expectations. Please ensure you and your children are completing the homework component of TLC each week as this an important part of TLC to which you have each agreed to.
- Uniforms – As shared many, many times, uniforms are an important part of the TLC program and as parents you have agreed to follow the uniform expectations. We want to remind you that leggings, sweat pants and jogger (pants with elastic at the bottom) are not part of uniform. We continue to see many students wearing these items – please work with your child to ensure they are wearing the correct pieces. Students are working towards perfect formal uniforms on Mondays (Tuesday for T/Th Kindie) as a class so they can earn ice cream in their classroom. Help your child gain independence and awareness as they dress themselves each Monday to ensure they have the correct uniform items.
- Behaviour- please remind your children each morning to make responsible and respectful choices in the way they talk to their friends, treat the bus driver and communicate with staff as we want to build their citizenship attributes while teaching them they are independent and accountable for their own actions.
As always, we hope you have a wonderful weekend, stay warm and enjoy the winter wonderland that we have! Sincerely, Andrea Taylor – Principal @ Le Roi Daniels |
