Dear Parents,

Can you believe we are heading into the last week of school before Spring Break?!  It is going to be a busy week so please be sure to look at the updates below

  1. Thank you to all those families who have already sent in your Lion King ticket order forms.  If you have not sent it in yet, please send it along with your money this week.
  2. Fun Lunch is happening on Wednesday March 20.  If you are interested in having your child participate, please be sure to order before midnight tonight (Friday) on Healthy Hunger.  Reminder that T/Th Kindergarten students should NOT order this lunch.  If you order fun lunch and your child is away on Wednesday, it will be donated unless you call the office before 11am,  to make alternative pick up arrangements.
  3. Student- led conferences are happening on Thursday, March 21 in the evening.  Please be sure to sign up for your time on your CBE Account under School Engage.  Students need to attend with their parents as they are showcasing their learning to you.  Parents need to remain with and beside their children at ALL TIMES (especially in the gym – this is not a free play time but rather showcasing their learning)

Couple of friendly reminders during conferences :

  • If you have more than one child in the school, please plan to visit French, Music and PE only once and have all of your children showcase their learning in those spaces at the same time.
  • As we have 600 students visiting those spaces, please be mindful of other families and only stay in French, Music  and PE for 5 -10 mins maximum
  • We have our used book sale happening in the Learning Commons.  All books are $2 and can be purchased with CASH.   If you have books to donate, you can still send them to the school until March 21.
  • There will be a photo op in the foyer by the gym.  If you would like to take your child’s photo in front of one of the Lion King backdrops, you are welcome to do so but please DO NOT TOUCH or TURN the backdrops.
  1. Reminder there are NO Kindergarten classes on Thursday as Student – led Conferences will be happening all day to accommodate all the Kindie families.
  2. Grade 3 families – friendly reminder to order and pay for your child’s music recorder by March 21 if you are wanting them to have their own instrument.  This can be found on your CBE Account under school fees.  Unfortunately late orders will not be accepted.
  3. Thursday March 21 is a CASUAL DAY in celebration of HOLI.

Holi Festival is being celebrated on Monday, March 25 by the Hindu community.  It is a celebration that marks the beginning of Spring and is sometimes referred to as the festival of love, where everyone focuses on having positive relationships and giving up resentment towards others.

This message is one that we can all appreciate, respect and practice in our school community.

To honor and respect this holiday and celebration, all students are invited to wear bright, spring, festive colours on Thursday March 21st  (Casual day) to welcome the Spring.  If this is a holiday that is part of your family culture and celebrations, please email your teacher before 8am on Thursday and we will have those specific students gather for a group photo to honor this holiday.

  1. Spring Break Begins for Students on Friday March 22 and classes begin again on TUESDAY April 2.

We hope you have a great weekend and look forward to seeing you all at conferences next week.

Sincerely,

Andrea Taylor – Principal @ Le Roi Daniels
