Principal’s Message
Welcome to April and to SPRING! We trust that everyone had a great break and enjoyed some time with family and friends over the holidays.
April is a busy month with many cultural and religious celebrations as well as many field trips and activities happening at the school. We also have our amazing school-wide performance happening on April 18th in the evening at First Alliance Church.
We are also continuing to work on our planning for next year (2024/25). Please help us by letting us know if you are planning on moving schools or changing programs so we can plan accordingly for our staffing and class configurations. We appreciate your help with this process and look forward to another successful year at Le Roi Daniels.
As always, we as an administrative team, strive to be responsive to the needs and concerns of all students and parents and encourage you to contact the school if you have any questions or concerns.
Sincerely,
Andrea Taylor
Principal
Volunteer of the Month
Congratulations to Fouzia Begum who won movie tickets. Thank you for your commitment and dedication to volunteering at our school to make it great!
Yearbook
The end of the year is fast approaching and one of the ways students can remember all the amazing events of this year is our yearbook. If you are interested in purchasing a yearbook with all the fun memories included, please go to your school account, find school based fees, look at optional fees, add the yearbook to your cart and pay J. Yearbook orders will be accepted until April 30. Unfortunately there will be no late orders accepted and we will not be ordering extra yearbooks for late purchase so please be sure to order yours today! Students will receive their yearbook before the end of June.
LION KING School Performance
We are going to be hosting our school wide performance of the Lion King on April 18th in the evening. Tickets will be sent home the week of April 15th, please be sure to bring your tickets with you as you have assigned seats. Costume information has already been sent home via email and is posted on your child’s Google Classroom. Please be sure to have your child’s “coloured” shirt here at the school for April 12 as we will be practicing all week. There will be multiple updates and reminders coming via email during the month of April so please be sure to check your emails regularly. We are looking forward to a great performance!
Character Education
For the month of April, we are focusing on the character trait of HONESTY! Honesty is a fundamental value that we can all work towards and help to instill in our students. Honesty is not just about telling the truth; it's about being sincere and truthful in all aspects of life. For students at Le Roi Daniels, honesty can manifest in various ways. It can be as simple as admitting when they've made a mistake, speaking truthfully even when it's difficult, and respecting the property and feelings of others. By teaching our students the importance of honesty, we can help them develop integrity and trustworthiness, which are qualities that will serve them well throughout their lives, as they mature as students and enter the workforce! Let's encourage our amazing students at Le Roi Daniels to be honest in their words and actions, creating a foundation of integrity that will shape their character for years to come.
Truth and Reconciliation Commitment
April welcomes Earth Day as a significant day to celebrate during spring and our Body-To Do domain. Students have many learning opportunities to engage in land based learning where they learn on, from, and with the land. Learning with the natural environment allows students to touch, listen, watch, smell, and apply these experiences within their activities.
April eagerly embraces Earth Day as a pivotal springtime celebration within our Body-To Do domain. It's a time for students to learn about the importance of environmental conservation and sustainability. Students are presented with abundant learning prospects that involve land-based education, where they discover, explore, and interact with the land. Activities engage students in hands-on learning about the planet. These activities teach children about the environment and instill in them a sense of responsibility and stewardship for the Earth. Engaging with the natural environment enables students to use their senses—touching, listening, watching, and smelling—and integrate these experiences into their daily learning.
Cultural and Religious Celebrations
As we honor many cultural and religious holidays throughout the year, we know that many families are celebrating Easter, Vaisakhi, or Eid this month.
We want to invite students to wear their formal Easter clothing this month. If your family formally celebrates Easter, students are invited to wear their FORMAL EASTER SUNDAY Church attire on Monday April 2. (first day back after Spring Break) Students who do not celebrate Easter will be expected to wear uniform as usual.
We will also be inviting students to wear their formal celebratory clothing for EID and the conclusion of Ramadan on Tuesday April 9. This is NOT a casual day and students who do not formally celebrate Eid will still be required to wear uniforms.
Likewise, we also want to invite those families who formally celebrate Vaisakhi, to wear their formal celebratory clothing on Friday April 12th. This is NOT a casual day and students who do not formally celebrate Vaisakhi will still be required to wear uniforms.
